Wilderness First Aid

Custom Dates Upon Request

You can view photos of past courses here on our Blog.

This course is designed to give you the confidence needed in an emergency situation. The curriculum goes through items hopefully you will not have to encounter in the wilderness, but just in case. The best first aid "kit" that saves lives, prevents disability, and eases suffering is carried for the most part, in the human brain. The safest plan for anyone who works or plays far from definitive medical intervention is to be well trained in wilderness medicine. Many times in the wilderness, items for proper care are not available for immediate use, items need to be improvised from what is on hand to take care of medical situations. The skill set to complete improvisations, assess patients, diagnose different illnesses, treat traumatic incidents and get help when needed is part of this "kit" that is essential.

Items you will learn in this course include:
  • Legal Issues
  • Patient Assessment
  • Basic Life Support
  • Traumatic Injuries
  • Stings and Bites
  • Splinting and Wound Care
  • Heat Illnesses
  • Cold Illnesses
  • Altitude Illnesses
  • First Aid Kits and Improvised Equipment
  • CPR in the Wilderness
  • Environmental Injuries
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Common Simple Wilderness Medical Problems
  • Patient Packaging and Evacuation
  • AHA CPR Certification
    and more
