The Advanced Canyoneering course is designed to give novices and intermediate canyoneers the skills they need to take it to that next level. The course discusses advanced techniques and prepares you to travel through canyons rated through 4C in the canyon rating system. The course meets in the mornings and jumps right in with techniques and in canyon / on rock practical's and discussions building on techniques and systems taught in the Technical course. As an ACA accredited school, the course includes the techniques and skills taught in the ACA Technical course, and will satisfy prerequisites for other ACA courses.

The course will be building on techniques and systems in the Technical course and you will learn:

Advanced knots and anchor systems
Advanced pothole techniques discussions
Rigging and using retrievable anchor systems
Advanced techniques for rope deployment
Efficient rope management
Multi-pitch rappels discussions
Sequencing and pre rigged rappels
Combination rappel and passive lower for long drops
Advanced rope work for traverses and extremely strong water current
Guided rappels, re-belays and deviations
Passing knots on ascend and rappel
Strategies for first descents
and more

Tuition for the course is $200.00 per person.

We do offer coure refresher fees. If you have already taken this course and would like to again, as a refresher, you can do so as many times as you would like for only $50.00. This is available on a space available basis.

Cost includes instruction, and all group canyoneering equipment, i.e. ropes, slings, and rigging. Unless taking the Advanced course back to back with the Technical course we encourage you to have your own basic equipment you are using and becoming familiar with which includes - harness, helmet, a rappel device, several locking carabineers, several non-locking carabineers, an ascending system, cows tails or equivalent, and proper clothing for the season. Once here or prior to arrival you also have the opportunity to purchase gear from our store at a student discount rate. Cost does not include lodging, meals, transportation to and from Bluff, personal equipment, and gratuities (tips) for instructors/guides.
